Day 3 NU-RES Conference Session: IRB Reliance: Conducting Multi-Site Research
Title: IRB Reliance: Conducting Multi-Site Research
Description: This session will discuss the regulatory complexities that exist when conducting multi-site research. We will focus on funded and unfunded projects that involve investigators from multiple institutions collaborating on a single project and projects where investigators might have a dual appointment.
Key points of discussion will include:
1) Understanding when research must comply with the federal Single IRB Policy.
2) Exploring the additional responsibilities placed on research teams when reliance agreements are necessary.
3) Differentiating between various types of agreements such as IIAs, IAAs, and SMART Agreements, and how each might apply to different situations.
4) Walking through the reliance process specific to Northeastern University.
By addressing these topics, participants will gain clarity on navigating IRB reliance in multi-site research settings, ensuring compliance while managing responsibilities effectively.
