Space survey training , September 12 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Dear Research Administrators and Community,
I hope you all have a great summer. As you may know, we have been working on FY24 Northeastern’s F&A (Facilities and Administrative) rate proposal which is due to the federal government by the end of of 2024. The proposal is based upon Fiscal Year 2024 (July 1, 2023 – June 30, 2024) activity, and a key aspect of the report is our utilization of research space on campus. To that end, we are required to complete a space survey of our labs and lab support spaces, which documents activities and funding sources supporting those activities and the personnel working in the spaces.
There will be two training sessions conducted through Microsoft Team:
Thursday, September 5 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm
Thursday, September 12 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm
The content of the sessions is the same, therefore, attendance at one is sufficient. These sessions will be recorded on Team and posted to NU-RES Website, but we strongly encourage live attendance to get your questions answered.
It is critical that the administrative support person who is most knowledgeable about departmental research funding, the PI’s, lab locations, and the personnel in the lab space attend since they will be asked to complete the space survey. This may be a research administrator, business manager, lab director or a combination of people who are knowledgeable with the research activities and space utilization of your department. The training will be conducted by Alex Hui, Inna Gvozdeva from Maximus Consulting Inc., and myself, and it will cover not only the space survey but also key aspects of the F&A proposal process and why it’s important to Northeastern.
Please use the link below to register for the training. Participation in the space survey is critical in developing the F&A proposal for the University. Your department might not eventually be picked for conducting the survey since the survey will focus on the most research density labs, but the training can still be beneficial for understanding the F&A rate proposal process.
